Wow!!!  Thanks everyone who has been listening to the Iowa Blues Showcase.  We are currently in tenth on PodOmatic, which is our current host.  Not sure where we are on ITunes, but this is exciting!  Episode three features Jimmy Pryor, the Midnite cowboy!   Des Moines legendary performer who lived, dressed, and sang the blues!   This was a great show from August 1999 recorded on a 4 track Fostex.  It still sounds pretty good considering that it was from a 17 year old cassette tape!!   I did work on the EQ because the second set was way too loud.  Sounds great though!   BTW, it is available on ITunes podcasts for those of you who use Ipad, or Ipods.

Salty Dog

Salty Dog has a great podcast show that you can easily access by clicking here. Podcasts are nice because you can listen to the shows whenever you want to. I download a lot of podcasts and listen to them at night when I go to bed, because reception can be kinda of sketchy up here in the great void of NW Iowa:-) Especially in the Summer, when every freaking thunderstorm makes the Am band unlistenable. So podcasts have been great for me this summer.

You can also access Salty Dog's podcasts from the small banner at the top left side of the blog. If you would like to see his website then click on the link in the link section. He has some great stuff, and it sure is nice to listen to some cool blues whenever you like, wherever you are:-)

Blues Podcast

Here is a link to a very cool Blues podcast. I found this while looking for history podcasts. It is called the uncensored history of the blues. It is heavy on music and features mostly pre-war blues. Living up here miles, and miles from civilization, I have missed shows live Blues Before Sunrise. So finding this podcast filled a needed void. It looks like he is kinda of hit and miss on producing new shows. It looks like about every other month, and then sometimes twice a month. I suppose it is typical of a podcast, that you make them when you have the time.

I Know a lot of you listen to podcasts so anyone who knows of a good podcast be sure to contact me so we can post it. Here is a nice program from NPR. It is a short history of the blues type show with portions of tunes. I think it is mostly contemporay blues artists, but it is still a great show.
