Benny Spellman RIP

RIP Benny Spellman - December 11, 1931 to June 3, 2011. Benny Spellman was an amazing singer whose hits "Fortune Teller" and "Lipstick Traces" helped to define the sound of 1960s New Orleans R & B. He passed away in Florida on Friday, June 3 at age 79. Spellman was also a member of Huey "Piano" Smith & the Clowns, and was the low voice of Ernie K-Doe's smash hit "Mother In Law". ! June 12th on Hammered By The Blues  (every Sunday on KOWZ 1170AM at 10pm) we gonna display our photogenic 'good side' as we share the beautiful people wit' ya. We start out with the southern rocker goodlooks of legend Gregg Allman as he makes ya weak in the knees with swag off 'Low Country Blues'. While the ladies are in a swoon, we let the guys get up close with Kaye Bohler as she steams yer personal space up with the heat off 'Like A Flower'. Oh, and speakin' of swagger Brad Vickers & His Vestapolitans with special guest Bobby Radcliff leave you fried, dyed and layed to the side with a handful of motorin' blues off 'Traveling Fool'. Callin' on the king of suave, the sultan of sexy we take you right thru climax with Johnny Rawls as he leave ya'll breathless with some of his best off 'Memphis Still Got Soul'. My goodness, I don't know how we will ever top this one; but we will be workin' on it!    
 
So, ya gotta have fun to make this all work;
It's better lendin' a hand than bein' a jerk; 
Yer life will be better and the world will be too; 
If ya treats all ya meet like ya want 'em to treat you!
