Tommy Johnson: I Wonder To Myself

Interesting song by Tommy Johnson.  Sounds similar to Mr. Crump by Frank Stokes, and a little like Hot Tamales by Robert Johnson.  This is a very cool ragtime blues song, with some great Kazoo playing!

Casey James: Too Sweet For Me

Hmmmmmmmm, reminds of the good ol days in Kansas City.  How did this guy end up on American Idol???  This guy is as blues as it gets.  He can shuffle, slow blues, and blow the doors off the dump like Stevie Ray.  All I can say is the blues community better wake up and latch on to this kid.

Olga Wilhelmine

Just recieved an email from a great new singer (at least to me) called Olga Wilhelmine.  Olga has a new release available on Itunes click HERE called Whatever You Want.  Without a doubt the gem of the cd is Just Take Your Time, it has a nice 50s dowopish melody with a 80s pop sound.  Very nice!

If you would like to check out Olga's blog Click HERE.

Here is the video of Just Take Your Time.  This is a great song give it a listen.

Here is Olga in an award winning short movie

Olga playing Black Cat Bone in the French Quarter.  She is a real blueswoman.

Maceo Parker and Taylor Hicks

Taylor Hicks joining in with Maceo Parker.  Not sure where this is at, but the digital camera that person has, has an inceadable zoom lens.  From the start of the video it looks like they were way up on the upper deck of a boat!  Nice video!

Provine "Little" Hatch: Strange Things Happen

The late great Provine "little" Hatch from Kansas City playing at Nightmoves.  Not sure what year, but it had to be awhile back since Nightmoves has been gone for years.  I was lucky enough to jam with Little Hatch a couple of times over the years in KC.   He was one of the all time great Bluesmen of KC.  Enjoy.

Taylor Hicks: Hold On To Your Love

It is easy to have the blues given the current economy. Times are tough everywhere. All I can say is if you can get out and support some blues you can keep the music alive! Enjoy some Taylor Hicks.
