Casey James: Old Love

Not sure if Eric Clapton wrote this, but he recorded this song ten years ago.  This is Casey doing a real unplugged version of it.

Billy Preston: Thats The Way God Planned It.

From the Concert for Bangladesh. One of the first huge rock concerts to raise money for a world tragedy. It is believed that concert, cd, record, and videos sales by 1985 had raised 12 million dollars, although it was a long process before most of the money could help the people of Bangladesh.

This video features Billy Preston, with Eric Clapton and George Harrison.

Taylor Hicks: Forever Man

I noticed that the yahoo embedded video doesn't play on firefox for some reason so here is a different version from Youtube.

Taylor Hicks: Forever Man

Taylor doing a Clapton song. Just a shout out to the Hicks fan club. My students informed me that Taylor lost his record contract. Can anyone give an update on that????

Otis Rush And Eric Clapton: Double Trouble

What I love about Clapton is his respect for the music and the people who originated it. There are tons of videos with Eric playing along with the guys who paid the dues well before Clapton picked up a guitar. I also think Clapton just gets better as he ages. I guess that is the beauty of the blues, it is like a fine wine it only gets better with age!

CD Review: Clapton Complete

From the Music Box Website comes a review of Complete Clapton. I suppose any anthology of Clapton will come up short, since he has done so much over the years. From the Yardbirds, John Mayall and the Blues Breakers, Cream, Blind Faith, and countless band fronted by Clapton over the years, it is hard to pick songs for a CD. This CD will make some people happy, and some disappointed, but for the someone who has never heard of Clapton this would be a great CD to buy. To read the complete review Click HERE.

Eric Clapton Interviewed On All Things Considered

The great "Slow Hand" was interviewed on All Things Considered, a NPR news show. What is great about NPR is that all of their shows are available as Podcasts! So if you missed the interview like I did, you can still listen to the show by downloading the podcast. Click here for a written article, and to download the podcast. Also check out some of the other great shows available FREE at NPR. I know that my more conservative readers are probably spiting on their monitor at the moment, but personally I don't buy the whole NPR liberal bias BS anyway. Just download music shows, or Car Talk, and enjoy some nice non political programing:-)

Eric Clapton: Layla

Since Eric changed up the song in the 90s, many people have forgotten that Layla was a rocking tune! Here it is in its original format.

Eric Clapton: Late In The Evening

A song of Eric Clapton that was inspired by Pattie Boyd. Boyd was married to George Harrison when Clapton met her. He fell in love with her, and Harrison let her go to marry Clapton. Pattie Boyd inspired at least three hit songs between George Harrison and Eric Clapton. Harrison wrote Something, and Clapton wrote Layla, and Late in the Evening. BTW, if you play in a band it is important to know this song if you are playing a wedding, because almost everybody wants it as their first dance:-)

Biography and review of Eric Clapton's New Book

click here for a LA Times, review of Clapton's new book Clapton: The Autobiography. You might need a membership to read the article, but the La Times is free, and worth it. Much like the New York Times, the LA Times, has some great articles. I do understand that some of you that check the right side of the political box, have this bizarre belief that both these papers are liberal propaganda, but really think about it for a moment. Both of those papers are owned by huge corporations, and large corporations are very much conservative, and big time capitalists. Don't you think that they would get rid of those nasty liberals SINCE THEY OWN THE PLACE???? I hate to tell you this, but even Hollywood is run by corporations. hmmmmmmmmm, strange world we live in isn't it??????

All I can say is get over it, get a membership, and read a great article about Clapton. It will do you good:-)

Chuck Berry, Eric Clapton And A Cast Of Thousands:-) Wee Wee Hours

Chuck Berry was a bluesman before he became better known as one of the originators of rock and roll. Here is a clip from Hail, Hail, Rock And Roll, back in 1986! So if my math is correct Chuck should be 81 today!! Wow! It is amazing how long some of these guys keep on playing the blues. That is the beauty of the blues is there is no age limit. As long as you can sing, you can still play the blues:-)

Eric Clapton: Groaning The Blues

Old Slowhand, playing a cool cover of Otis Rush's Groaning The Blues. I think the thing about Eric is that he plays the blues better now then he ever did in his glory days of Cream. I think he learned, and a lot of us learn as we get older, that it is not the number of notes you play, but the quality of the notes you use:-)

Eric Clapton: Kindhearted Woman

An old Robert Johnson song revamped and modernized for public consumption. Still has heart though and thats what counts.
