South Skunk Blues Society

We are still working on putting together an order for some 2012 festival shirts.  X and 2X shirts are what we are thinking.  They would be about $20 plus tax.  Let me know if you are interested.  Think we have four people that want to get a shirt.

While I am writing about the Bowl I want to point you to a very nice slide show of the Bowlful of Blues on the Newton Daily News website:  If you scroll down about 1/2 way you will come to a section of videos and photos and when you click on the “Bowlful of Blues Double Hit of Great Music” and you get to see the slide show.

Also wanted to keep everyone up to speed on the upcoming shows.

This coming weekend you can enjoy some great blues music both Friday and Saturday.  Dave Zollo will be appearing at the Speakeasy this Friday 9/21 beginning at 8PM (he is an extraordinary Iowa musician).  Come on over and set back and listen to him play the key board and sing some really cool songs.  He is great.  Check out this interview with Dave earlier this year:   Here are some links to his music -   (see attached poster)

Saturday Honeyboy Turner from Lincoln Nebraska will be bringing his blues to Cadillac Jacks in Baxter on Saturday 9/22 for Customer Appreciation Day: Food & Drink Specials! $2 Tallboys all day long! Open at 11 for Hawkeye Game. Drawing for Fabulous Prizes! Corn Hole Tournament sponsored By ABATE District 9 @ 3 pm. Sign up now for only $10/team. Honeyboy Turner band 8-midnight! Here is his web site  (see attached poster)

Ron Cooper tells me many believe that this day may very well be the end of the world (at least as we know it now).  The Mayan calendar ends on this date!  Is this the dawning of the Age of Aquarius or is it the end.  Well one thing for sure, Matt Woods and the Thunderbolts and Lil Ed and the Blues Imperials will help us make it through the night.
