We're takin' off for Ogallala! If you find yourself in Denver CO
Saturday morning, The Blue Band is alternating 45 minute sets with
another band at entertainment stage #5 (17th St. and York) along the
running route of The Denver Marathon, starting at 7:40 IN THE MORNING
and going until 10:40. More info on this international event:
http://runrocknroll.competitor.com/denver That night, we are playing the
wedding celebration of Kathleen Logan and Jesus Vazquez in a Denver
hotel. Congrats to the cool couple! Next week, in addition to telling
you the peculiarities of playing at 7:40am in mile high altitude,
(something I have never done in my 40 year history of playing in a
band!) I'm going to tell you the story of the incredible synergy that
came together between Blue Band fans from Boulder to Virginia in order
to make this weekend happen...
We do not have any gigs lined up for next week, but are really looking
forward to the granddaddy of all vineyard gigs, The Tabor Winery
Harvest/Anniversary party on Sat. Oct. 6. Not only am I looking forward
to that multi generational gathering at the vineyard
(http://www.taborhomewinery.com/) but Nathan Peoples is going to make
the drive from Des Moines to play with the band again! Hope you can join
us for this multifaceted reunion...
News also of organ man Sam Salomone. Sam had his 4th visit to the
hospital this year in late August. He's been home for a little more than
3 weeks. When I talked with him this afternoon, his voice and attitude
was better than I've heard from him in months. He's still got some
struggles in the weeks to come, but he says he's determined to join us
for New Years Eve. If you're a friend of Sam's, maybe give him a call
and say hello...
I'm starting to get my after summer FREAK OUT going because of the lack
of work over the Holidays, so please spread the True Blue word (BTW,
we're really looking forward to the start of the Hub Geeezer Gigs on
Oct. 12, please note that the December show has been moved up a week to
Dec. 7)...
Have you ever been to Kanesville Records/Collectables in Council Bluffs?
It is a very dangerous place for recovering vinyl LP junkies like me.
Their website says they have nearly a MILLION records on three floors.
It's on the way to Denver. Uh oh...
See yas on the long Blue Highway between Sparkle City and The Mile High
City, rub yer washboard tie to the tune of Meet Me In The Morning (the
very early morning) (the "other" Bob Dorr is promising to make the trip
from Colorado Springs to catch the morning run-bye) Congrats again to
Kathleen and Zeus (I'm assuming there will be wedding CAKE) (you knew
that was coming, didn't you?) and always know that we love you. Bob Dorr
& The Blue Band
