Nice vintage footage of Patsy Cline. Patsy amazingly survived a nasty car wreck only to die in a plane wreck a couple of years later. Originally she disliked the song written by Willie Nelson, but on her second time around recording the song she did it her own way, and the rest is history.

In Search Of Young Jessie

I recieved an email from a reader wanting more information about a forgotton doowop, blues singer named, Young Jessie. Young Jessie had a few hits in the 50s and has since sort of disappeared. I did a few internet searches, and came up with about the same information. If anyone knows if he is still around and performing PLEASE email me, or leave a comment! Thanks!!!
UPDATE
Loretta found this in a recent New Yorker online listing:
THE HOOK
18 Commerce St., Red Hook, Brooklyn (718-797-3007)—July 13: Young Jessie, a Los Angeles-based vocalist who once sang with the Coasters and the Flairs and whose contributions to the R. & B. cannon include “Hit, Git and Split,” “Shuffle in the Gravel,” and “I Smell a Rat,” makes his first New York City appearance in nearly half a century. He’ll be joined by the legendary R. & B. figure the Mighty Hannibal. The fine local act the Dansettes will provide the backing for both and will perform a set of their own.
So at least he is still playing!! Hopefully someone can track down where he is playing this week:-)

The Diamonds: Little Darlin
I not sure about this one. I know it is a great song, but the legend of the song, is that the Diamonds were four frat boys, who did this as a parody of Doo Wop, and ooops! It becomes a hit. However, it is a fun song, so check it out.
Of course here they are 40 years or so still hamming it up:-) Not bad for old guys:-)

I really like the Delta Rhythm Boys. They are a fun group, with cool harmonies. Here they sing the Duke Elligton hit Take the A Train. Plus it is a fun video!

The Delta Rhythm Boys St. Louis Blues!
This is a 1943 movie of the Delta Rhythm Boys doing some very early doo wop. It is also a very jazzy version of St. Louis Blues, not to be confused with the WC Handy version that Bessie Smith performed.
