Blues Historian: Tweed Funk, Love Is

Tweed Funk's latest release, Love Is,  is more than just funky goodness.  This is truly an eclectic collection of songs.  Yes, Tweed Funk can play funk, and they are damn good at it, but they can also do what I like to call a Memphis shuffle like no other.  They have a great southern soul sound that can only be found south of Kansas City and Memphis.  The band is very tight, and I can guarantee that they probably fill the dance floors wherever they play live, cause if they don't then the people in the bar are dead.  These guys grove like some of the best southern soul bands I have ever seen years ago in KC.  For the most part they do original music.  however their versions of Real Mother For Ya, and Sex machine rock. Preston Shannon: The Clock

New classic southern soul blues from Preston Shannon.   This is some really good stuff.  If you liked Little Milton, or ZZ Hill, you will love Preston Shannon.  Give it a listen.

Cee Lo Green: Its OK

Another great soul tune from Cee Lo Green.  Between Cee Lo, Taylor Hicks, and all of those great southern soul artists. I think the blues is alright.

Clarence Carter: Slip Away

WOW!  Clarence Carter from about a year ago.  He has a little trouble with the high notes, but he is still Dr. CC!!!

Malaco Records Destroyed

News out of Oregon Music News, is that Malaco Records was destroyed by a tornado on April 17th.  Fortunately no one was hurt, but it sounds like the master recordings of ZZ Hill, Little Milton, and Bobby Blue Bland, and many more may have been damaged or destroyed.  Link to the story is HERE.
