Membership Drive:
There are still members that are due for renewal.  Since this is time for our annual membership drive, I want to encourage you, if you have not already done so, to take a few minutes and fill out the form, write a check and renew membership in the South Skunk Blues Society.  Since we are a 501 C (3) non profit you may be able to use the membership payment as a deduction for tax purposes. One of the benefits of membership is that you receive in the mail the monthly Central Iowa Blues Society newsletter,  The Crier.  Your subscription to the Crier will be ending (unless you are also a member of Central Iowa Blues Society) if your dues are not renewed (you may have seen a red mark on your mailing label if your subscription is ending).

We have been contacting our Sponsors from last year and asking them to renew and have had good success.  We are also looking to expand our Sponsor base so if you know of anyone that would like to be a sponsor for the 20th Annual Bowlful of Blues please have them contact me.  Since my last email, Riggs Printing and Cardinal Corner in Newton became new corporate sponsors!  If you are looking for a quick bite to eat or some ice cream stop by Cardinal Corner at 321 S. 2nd Ave West (just a few blocks from the square), treat yourself to some good munchies, and tell them thanks for Sponsoring the South Skunk Blues Society.

South Skunk News:  I want to take a moment to thank all of our Board (Mike Retman, Deana Williams, and Jennifer Howell) for their help and support with getting the 20th Annual Bowlful of Blues on its way.  Volunteers Dan Wickliff, Mike Pender, Chris Sutliff, Matt Lehman, Sarah O’Dell, Elaine Mattingly, Paula Zickmund, and Henrietta Clover (and others I may have missed) have really put in some essential productive work as they have been very busy in their particular skill areas of graphic design, communication, web site maintenance, selling program ads, developing the program and renewing sponsorships!  Without our volunteer help, this Bowlful of Blues would not be possible. We will have an astounding festival as the pieces of this effort continue to take shape.

We want to recycle some of the yard directional signs that were used last year to direct people to the Bowl.  If anyone has one of those yard signs please let me know as soon as possible and we can put it to good use again this year!

We are going to begin Membership and Volunteer meetings weekly as we prepare for the Bowl.  You are sure welcome to come out and lend your input and find out how you might be able to help us with this year,s Bowlful of Blues.  These meeting will take place on Mondays at the Maytag Park Bowl
at 6:30 PM.

And lastly please support our corporate sponsors!!!  If not for them, we could not keep the blues alive:
