Bob Dorr And The Blue Band Update

I bet you were sayin' "well, there's no Blue Band gig this week, so I won't have to read endless blah blah blah from Bob Dorr." But NOOOOOOO!...
Today is the day we shut down the government in order to properly celebrate Blue Band founding member Jeff Petersen's birthday, who I'm sure will be celebrating by stroking dimpled sphere's across the undulating plain, even if it's raining, and then will come home and watch endless coverage and recordings of The Masters (an activity fondly looked on as an insomnia cure at my house) It is my personal opinion that without Jeff Petersen, there would no longer be a Blue Band. Wish Mr. P. a Happy Birthday and bring a golf ball shaped CAKE to the next gig!...
Despite the fact that last year's New Year's Eve extravaganza was "under attended" The Hilton Gardens has invited us back for this year and we jumped at the opportunity. Please send comments and suggestions as to what we can do to bring you out to this 30th Anniversary, year ending, extravaganza. What have you liked about past New Year's Eves? What could be improved? What musical acts would you like to hear/see this year? We'll look forward to screaming HAPPY BLUE YEAR with you, Saturday Dec. 31 at The Hilton Garden in suburban Des Moines...
Just as I mentioned last week, Steve Campbell did indeed come up with another stunning logo for this 30th Anniversary year. Check it out on the homepage: http://www.theblueband.com/ Ordering for this year's T-shirts will happen soon. If you need a size bigger than 2XL or smaller than Medium or would like a color other than white, black, or light blue, make that pre-order soon. And if you want your event listed on the back, make that booking in the next 10 days (http://www.theblueband.com/contactBob.htm) We're also hoping to have a limited number of embroidered Henley shirts and (if we can find the money) stickers and buttons (hey, not too many bands get to celebrate 30 years!) If there's enough interest, we'll consider jacket and sweatshirt items later in the year...
I did get a couple of emails from Craig Campbell at the Campbell/Steele Gallery in Marion (our next gig on Friday Apr. 15) suggesting that I inform you that this spring's concert series has been very well attended, tickets are only $5, but there is VERY limited space and seating and reservations are encouraged (http://www.campbellsteele.com/Events.php)...Also, don't forget that Mark, Jeff, and I are doing an all acoustic (no electricity allowed) performance as part of the Green Iowa Americorps Earth Fair at the Hartman Reserve in Cedar Falls (Sparkle City USA) on Sunday Apr. 17. The concert starts at 6pm, we do our half-hour at 7pm. RSVP is encouraged for this event also at 319-277-2187 ext. 14 or ashley.hrnc@gmail.com...
I have been helping my in-laws clean out their basement in anticipation of their moving to an assisted living facility. They built that house 58 years ago and have lived there ever since. Imagine the accumulation of stuff from 58 years. Combine that with my father-in-law's tendency toward hoarding (must be something about the name Bob) and all of a sudden it's like excavating a museum! I'm loving getting a cram course in family history!...
At the risk of having more people unsubscribe because of making political statements, I have to say, that if the two major political parties actually shut down the Federal Government, THOSE JOKERS SHOULD NOT GET PAID right along with the soldiers, park rangers, federal office workers and everyone else this is going to effect. Just sayin'...
See ya on The Blue Highway, rub your washboard tie to the tune of Happy Birthday Jeff, (fore!) CAKE is always appreciated at birthday parties, and always know that we love you. Bob Dorr & The Blue Band
