Dewey Cantrell And Jodi Bodly At The Summerset Winery

Dewey and Jodi with Kyle Dean Patton live at the Summerset Winery in central Iowa. BTW, Jodi is a very lovely lady, but this is the only picture I have of her, and she was making a very strange face at the time!

Come on out and drink wine and listen to music – sounds like a worthwhile thing to do on a cold winter’s day. Jodi and I will have our friend Kyle Dean Patton with us. If you haven’t heard Kyle, he plays guitar, mandolin and has a great voice. We’ll be playing some covers, a few oldies, and oh yeah, some blues, too. Hope you can make it.

Dewey Cantrell Update

Dewey @ Jodi are at The Firehouse Lounge 7-10pm Sunday night. It’s a nice little place just about 10 blocks south of East Village at SE 6th & Harford. They are rotating different acts every week so we’re there once a month. Come on out and help support another nice live music venue. Hope to see you there!

Dewey Cantrell Jodi Bodley, and KFMG

Just in from Dewey Cantrell

Hey all, my partner in crime and the blues, Jodi Bodley and I are going to be featured on a special edition of KFMG’s Tuesday night blues show (99.1 FM and kfmg991.com streaming internet radio). The show runs from 7-10pm and in addition to the excellent blues Scott (Big Dawg) Allen and Don (T-bone) Erickson always play, the show will be featuring some great live music with 2-time Iowa Blues Challenge winner Matt Woods in the first hour, The Fat Tuesday guys in the second hour (also Iowa Blues Challenge winners), and Jodi and I in the last hour. So somewhere around or shortly after 9:00 we will be talking with the host and performing a song or two live.

It’s all part of KFMG’s first ever fundraising event during February 16th through February 22nd to help operate this great radio station. KFMG is a World Class progressive music station that covers everything from blues to jazz to Steely Dan to singer-songwriters like John Hiatt, and a plethora of great adult alternative music. They may be a “low power” local station, but they play great stuff on 99.1 FM all the time so tune in if you can. Like I mentioned above, they’re also streaming live to the web so check out www.kfmg991.com if you’re outside Des Moines, and you can also find out more about the event and the station in general there, too

It should be fun to talk and perform some blues totally live and unrehearsed (well, the interview part anyway).

Dewey Cantrell and Jodi Bodley At The Botanical Center In Des Moines

Big gig for my good friends in Des Moines.

No football this Sunday and it’s gonna’ be a cold one outside … that’s enough to give folks the blues. A great way to beat ‘em is to check out the Botanical Blues series in the warmth of the Botanical Center courtyard. Jodi Bodley & Dewey Cantrell will be performing this Sunday, January 25th from 1pm - 3pm. Admission is cheap to spend a couple hours in a 75 degree tropical paradise … Adults just $4, ages 6-17 only $2, and the little ones 5 and under are free. Grab some friends & family and come on down for food, fun, and entertainment!

Dewey Cantrell In West Des Moines Iowa

My very good friends Dewey and Jodi are performing in West Des Moines Iowa this weekend. (btw, Jodi is being silly in the picture:-) Here is the info from Dewey

Greetings Blues Lovers,

Just a quick heads-up that The Blues Bureau will be performing at Valley Junction Farmers Market’s weekly Music In The Junction on Thursday, May 15th, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. It is an extremely family-friendly event and the weather is forecasted to be absolutely beautiful. So grab a lawn chair, pull up a piece of curb, or just mill about and enjoy the festivities. Hope to see you there.

Big Gig Alert! Jodi Bodley And Dewey Cantrell

Just got this late email about some friends of mine who are performing in downtown Des Moines tomorrow. They will be playing at the Botanical Center which is a large Geodesic dome located on the eastside of the Des Moines river right of interstate 235. It is a great place to play music in the winter, because it is very warm, and summery!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blues show alert …

Jodi Bodley and Dewey Cantrell of The Blues Bureau will be performing at the weekly Botanical Blues series this Sunday, January 27th, from 1:00pm till 3:00pm. There is also an “acoustic jam” scheduled to immediately follow hosted by “Freight Train” Frank Strong. By the way, there is no football to conflict (thanks to the NFL for scheduling the playoffs around us), so grab the family and friends, come on down and enjoy the beautiful surroundings with some good blues. Here’s a link to the Botanical Center calendar …

Photo Of The Week: Jody Bodley And Dewey Cantrell

Okay, so my friends can be a little weird:-) This is Jody Bodley and Dewey Cantrell playing probably 8 years ago at one of the Central Iowa Blues Society pub crawls. I think the band was Blues Bureau. These two characters can really put on a show. Jody has a voice like Janis Joplin, and Dewey is a master guitar player who has a pretty decent voice himself. The two of them still play in Des Moines. Occasionally as a two piece but mostly as a band.
