Bob Dorr And The Blue Band Update

this has GOT to be a quickie (!) it's my wife's birthday (Fri) and I haven't even gotten a card yet. (and in Sparkle City, yer only card options at 3am are HyVee or WalMart and those options never change. I hope she doesn't remember the card I gave her 5 years ago because that might get a rerun. I'm sure it has something to do with strawberries, whipped cream, and CAKE!... So tonight (Fri) is the Blue Band's anniversary party and Carolyn's birthday party, on board a 300 passenger excursion boat, cruising one of the world's most famous rivers for three hours while The Blue Band provides the entertainment. Whoa. 30 years ago, we played our first gig in Dubuque (6/10/81) I wonder how many people who were at The Cooper Wagon Works will be on the boat. And how many of them will bring their GRANDkids! All ages are welcome, at last check, there were a little less than 100 tickets left, get them directly from the Spirit of Dubuque River Boat: http://www.dubuqueriverrides.com/contact.html or (563) 583-8093. Boarding time for the cruise is 7pm, out on the river at 7:30p, back dockside at 10:30p. Anniversary party. Birthday party. I'm sure someone will bring CAKE! What's not to like, right Avis?!!...
Sunday finds us in the Troll Capitol of The World, Mt. Horeb WI, for our 4th trip to their Summer Frolic. Believe me, these Trolls KNOW how to drink beer. Even on the Sunday afternoon of a weekend long festival. We play 4:30-8pm and our longtime friend Mark Webber has promised to sing Not Me with the band again this year (that's a warning) Complete info on Mt. Horeb Summer Frolic can be found at http://www.trollway.com/productlist.asp?cat=81
Next week is our actual Blue Band 30th birthday weekend, followed the next week by the continuation of birthday month with a trip to Kansas City, followed the next week by the end of birthday month concluding with Sparkle City's Sturgis Falls Celebration, followed the next week by 4th of July weekend. Whew, this is gonna be fun. Find the 30th Anniversary Tour date in your neighborhood at http://www.theblueband.com/cal.htm Need I say that CAKE is appropriate for all of these dates? (PIE is an acceptable summertime substitute)...
You probably know that last Sunday's Blues & BBQ Fest in North Liberty was canceled because of the torrential rains that made the concert field a marsh. But maybe you don't know that N. Liberty Blues & BBQ organizers are trying to reschedule the Fest and we're hoping to be part of it. I should have more info on this possibility next week...
Don't forget to check out the newly posted Blue Band performance audio from last New Year's Eve at http://www.theblueband.com/bluemusic.htm I'm putting the final touches on the list of acts for this coming year's NYE extravaganza. Please let me know who you'd like to see on the list, because there's only 211 days until New Year's Eve...
Well, that's gotta be it. Maybe there will be new/ different birthday cards at HyVee. I'm sure they have whipped cream. See ya on The Blue Highway. Don't miss the boat. Rub yer washboard to the tune of the Happy Birthday Blues. Birthday CAKE or Anniversary CAKE? YOU decide. And always know that we love you. Bob Dorr & The Blue Band
