Trouble No More In CIBS Blues Challenge Final

One of my old buddies from Des Moines has made it to the finals of the Central Iowa Blues Societies Iowa Blues Challenge. Hats off to Jeff for making it that far. There are a lot of bands who have never made the finals, and unfortunatly a lot of bands who seem to make it to the finals every year. Good luck to Jeff and all the bands as they head to the finals.

Whoa Yeah! We (Trouble No More) are in it!

Saturday night, May 16th from 10:30 to 11:15 PM Trouble No More will set the Hotel Fort Des Moines ablaze with good time danceable Blues that cannot be denied. The whole deal starts at 8:30 PM and features 4 acts that are competing for a trip to the International Blues Competition in Memphis next May. Admission is $10.

After years of competing in preliminary rounds with the likes of Blues Inc. and Trouble In Mind, I finally pulled together a group that made it to the finals. We clearly had the experience going for us in the prelim round at Zimm's in early April. For my part, I have my past mates in Blues Inc. and Trouble In Mind to thank for that.

The competition will be stiff, but we're gonna bring it on. Here's hoping maybe you can swing the night to come down and watch us light it up.

TROUBLE NO MORE Blues Band has shows in Ames the next two weekends:

Saturday, 1/31 from 9 to 1 at Mother's Pub (old Dugan's Deli/Boheme), corner of Campus and West Streets
--This will be a rousing party scene with many Ames people and the birthday of Ruth W. from the Octagon,
"I would like you to dance...Take a ch-ch-ch-chance..."

Saturday, 2/7 from 9 to 1 at DG's Tap House, above the Corner Pocket Pool Hall downtown
--100 Beers on tap and lots of pool tables downstairs (you can still hear the band)

TROUBLE NO MORE is also the host band for the jam session following the Central Iowa Blues Society Winter Blues Fest at the Hotel Fort Des Moines on Saturday, February 14. You get a wristband and hotel room and just go from ballroom to ballroom enjoying lots of cool acts from around the midwest and beyond. Details at www.cibs.org

Trouble No More In Ames Iowa

Hey all you close enough to Ames to possibly care:

The Wheatsfield Co-Op Organic Foods store in Ames is having their annual potluck picnic this Saturday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.
It's going to be held in the MAPLE SHELTER at BROOKSIDE PARK right on 6th Street closest to the parking lot.
It's free to the public and all it takes to be able to eat is bring something to share. Organic, non-organic, vegan, carnivore...all
are welcome. I'm gonna show up with my specialty "Bratwurst Surprise" casserole.

Our Blues band Trouble No More will play from 6:00 to 8:00. All is family friendly. Hope to see you there.

FREE ADMISSION

We'll play for about an hour and then you can leave or hang
out and hear Nate Logsdon on Acoustic Guitar til 11:00 P.M.
This is not a bar and there is no smoking. It is very appropriate
to bring your Middle School or older kids. Couches and carpet
and some tables and chairs make it very cozy and laid back.
There are stocked coffee pots and hot water for tea or hot cocoa.
I'd suggest bringing your own supplies including a mug. Some
guys were selling their own homemade personal size pizzas
for $3 last night and they were pretty tasty. There was a nice
write-up about the place in the Ames High student newspaper
last week.

Those of you that I know are not living near Ames or are otherwise engaged on a Tuesday night, I'd ask that you forward this message to some people you think might enjoy an early night out with their teenager or spouse or both. This is the first show we'll play since adding Easy Rockin' Ray England on drums and it'd be nice to see how it flies in front of a crowd that is for the most part sober. Hope everyone is well.
