Live Contemporary Celtic music at its very best - RUNA to perform in Marietta
The Msgr. Donal O'Carroll Division of The Ancient Order of Hibernians is sponsoring a Celtic music concert in Marietta featuring RUNA at the Adelphia Music Hall, 203 Second Street, Marietta, Ohio on Thursday evening, June 14th. Doors will open at 7pm with RUNA performing at 7:30. Admission is $15.
RUNA is a fast rising Celtic band featuring vocalist Shannon Lambert-Ryan from Philadelphia, Dublin-born guitarist Fionan de Barra, Canadian percussionist Cheryl Prashker, and fiddler Tomoko Omura from Japan via NYC. Members of RUNA have performed with SOLAS, Riverdance, Slide, Clannad, Fiddler's Bid, Moya Brennan, Eileen Ivers, Hazel O'Conner, Full Frontal Folk, Tommy Fleming, and the Guy Mendilow Band, among others.
RUNA draws on the diverse musical backgrounds of its band members and offers a contemporary and refreshing approach to traditional and more recently composed Celtic material. Through their repertoire of both highly energetic and graceful, acoustic melodies, along with their fusion of music from Ireland, Scotland, Canada, and the United States, this vocal and instrumental ensemble gives its arrangements of traditional songs and tunes a fresh sound.
Cobbler John says " This is a very rare chance to see a world renowned Celtic Band in our area. The Blues, Jazz & Folk Music Society has always promoted Celtic Music in the past and we are lucky to have RUNA perform in Marietta. Please come out and support live Celtic Music."
