SATURDAY (8/1) : The Main Event
Starring Blues Diva, Nora Jean Bruso and the incredible Will Kimbrough

One of my favorites and best known as a sideman to Rodney Crowell, Todd Snider, and Jimmy Buffett, Will Kimbrough is a dynamite performer in his own right.

Some of you may wonder why Will, more of an Americana artist, is on Blues festival bill, you won't after his show! An amazing guitar player, song writer and performer, and you won't be able to deny his passion and craft.

Nora Jean Bruso was born to sing the Blues. Raised in the Delta, Nora Jean was surrounded by Blues, Gospel and Soul at an early age. In 1976, following the footsteps of many a legend, Nora Jean went to Chicago and started playing the West Side Clubs - performing with and learning from the greats. To say she is a force on stage is an understatement.

So, be prepared, with a microphone in her hand, Nora Jean transforms from a kindly Christian soul, into a full blown Blues Monster.

Also appearing Alvin Jett, Frank Harrison, Ricky Gene Hall & the Goods, Blackberry Jam, and The Blue Z Band.

Music starts at 1 PM, $15 at the gates

Artists with the Most Posthumous Album Sales
In the aftermath of Michael Jackson's death, global sales of his albums have soared, and there are rumors that unreleased songs and albums will generate millions of more dollars. But he's not alone. The music world is full of legendary recording artists whose popularity lived on long after them. Whole generations of listeners who weren't even alive when such stars as Elvis, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, and Buddy Holly died continue to buy their music, whether downloading them from iTunes or purchasing them from Amazon. In fact, many late musicians saw their sales spike after their death. What were the most popular posthumous albums? Read on to find out.

Editor's Note: The Highest-charting albums refer to the Billboard 200 ranking. The Album sales come from Nielsen SoundScan and only include sales after 1991 when the company began tracking sales figures. For Michael Jackson, the company provided sales figures starting after his death on June 25.

VIDEO CLIP of the WEEK
As they say in West Virginia: "Watch This"...
Incredible!
TURN YOUR VOLUME UP FULL BLAST
BEST: Click on the YouTube logo and watch it full-screen on YouTube.

This fun YouTube video features a 1980s pop classic. The rock band Toto
scored their biggest hit with Africa in 1982. The song is instantly recognizable. But it has been reinvented.

Perpetuum Jazzile is an a cappella jazz choir from Slovenia . It's hard to
think of something further from an '80s rock band. But their version of Africa may best the original. The group has amazing voices.

But the beginning of this video is really striking. Group members simulate an African thunderstorm with their hands. It's really something to see and
hear.

About The Blues, Jazz & Folk Music Society
www.bjfm.org P.O. Box 2122, Marietta, Ohio 45750
The Blues, Jazz & Folk Music Society is a non-profit, 501 (c) 3 all-volunteer "force" of music enthusiasts on a mission to enhance the appreciation of American Roots Music in the Mid-Ohio Valley and we do it by presenting concerts, workshops, conferences, and a forum for education and development in the schools.

The BJFM Society celebrates and perpetuates blues and roots music as a traditional, evolutionary, and uniquely American art form. During the grant period, we will continue to present live music in genres not normally available in a small town like ours, to educate and expose our audiences to music new and unfamiliar to many of them. Our goal is to keep blues, jazz and roots music alive in our area.

With the help of volunteers from our membership, and an
8-member board of directors, the BJFM Society will continue to produce and present our "core events" plus other shows throughout the year as the opportunity presents itself. The BJFM Society has also undertaken the expense of production and presentation of the nationally recognized multicultural "Blues in the Schools" program here in our local schools

Peg Bolen - Treasurer
