This starts out with a very, very slow version of Little Milton's Grits Ain't Groceries, and then it turns into a nice slow blues jam. Hicks can sing the blues no doubt about it.

To me Taylor is at his best when he sings the blues. Thanks for the post Tom. Ü medolark
Just wanted to let you know, Mr. Blues, that Taylor is releasing an album on August 19 called "Early Works" that is compilation of his 2 pre-AI indie albums. If you don't have these albums you definitely want to pick this gem up. He penned 10 of the 12 tracks on the CD. You can pre-order it on amazon.com.
Now THIS is the Taylor Hicks that the world should be seeing. I'm Ok with the "whomp" stuff, but the blues are where he shines and I so wish he would cut a live blues CD.
I agree with everyone here! Taylor becomes the music when he sings The Blues! So much body language. Could watch & listen all day long! WOOOOO Thanx Tom♥
Thanks for reminding us all of this wonderful video clip by Azgoddess from the 2007 tours..
There are some great blues moments as well on the "Whomp at the Warfield" DVD, from that amazing 5.09.07 San Francisco show- can't wait for that DVD to finally appear!
We love your blog, and hope you'll continue to do frequent spotlights on Hicks and his 'real' music, which so few people in the American listening public are aware of...
P.S. Speaking of 'the real stuff': Btw, BH, have you seen these incredible photos + heard these late-night-jam songs from the Grey Eagle which TaysHarmonica recently posted on her blog (righthickssave.wordpress.com) and on Vimeo? http://www.vimeo.com/1256390

Thanks, Blues, love your blog and love that you give Taylor a listen! That man can sing the blues, for sure.
Thanks for this one Tom! When Taylor Hicks and his tour band get together to perform the blues -- its a delight to the eye and ear to witness.
Goodtime rockin’ blues at its best. Thanks!
This is so darn good. Thanks for posting this.
Yours friends at New England Soul
Patrol thank you!! Have a great
summer :)
One of Taylor's more obscure covers/tags. Thanks for highlighting his performance.

I could listen to this all day.
Please, sir, may I have another?
This is great!
