But before that I want to let everyone know what we have been up to.
I had a chance this week to talk with Fruitland Jackson about Blues in
the Schools and he is planning to spend the week of February 1, 2013
here in Skunkland. I am beginning to work on a schedule, funding and
support for this great Blues educator to come. If you would like to
help with this effort please let me know. Last years Blues in the
Schools was well received. We plan for Fruitland to begin the week with
the Blues Under the Blue Roof at the Newton Library. Here are a couple
links that you might find interesting regarding this fine musician and
educator, look around on his website and you will find lots of
background information: http://www.fruteland.com/ Here is an introduction to Fruitlands Blues in the Schools: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=7FDB8unA720
Here is a list of upcoming shows. Come on out and get some Blues relief.
Great musicians and great cultural and social activity. You know we
are really fortunate to have such a artistic and cultural vibe going in
Skunkland! It is like the “big city”. We must nourish it or it may not
continue! Support the scene, live music here is a blessing. Also
please check out the attached posters (we are also blessed to have some
talented graphic artists in our midst, thank you Elaine and Chris):
