South Skunk Blues Society Update
Help Wanted: The South Skunk is looking for a volunteer “Membership Coordinator” that has an interest in the Blues and can use a computer. We need someone that can coordinate our membership data. This is an essential function that we must perform. This volunteer job requires a person that has the ability to maintain confidentiality, has internet access, a printer and some basic computer skills. The Membership Coordinator will help maintain the membership list. When a new member joins or a member renews the Membership Coordinator will record that on the list (currently on an Excel list), print off a membership card and send it in the mail to the person that has renewed or joined the South Skunk. We provide postage, envelopes, and other supplies as necessary. Also the membership coordinator would send an email to the Central Iowa Blues Society so that they have up to date data on who should be receiving the Crier newsletter. We need to find someone willing to help with this soon as we are planning a membership drive in the very near future. This is not a particularly time consuming job but it is very important. No travel is required. Please let me know if you might be interested in volunteering for this.
I got to thinking that it might be interesting to include in my emails brief articles from our membership. Would anyone mind if I sent out an occasional article written by one of our members? If you feel like you would like to be an occasional columnist give it a shot. If you have been to a great blues show, write a brief review and send it to me. We have had some unusually gifted artists playing for us recently and I expect that will continue. If you see someone that trips your trigger, write up a review. I talk to people that tell me about a show they attended recently and how much they enjoyed it. If you have the inclination just write it up and send it to me! If you would like to research the biography of one the the artists that will be playing at the Bowl write it up and send it to me. I will take a look, even edit it with you if you want and you may just see the article show up in one of these emails.
Still looking for pictures from past South Skunk Bowls or events. If you have some photos or digital photos please let me know. We would like to document historically all of the great blues artists that have come to Skunkland in the past 20 Years.
Welcome return of Web Master Matt Lehman! Matt stepped up and agreed to help us by being the South Skunk Web site. He has updated some information and there is additional information that will be added as we go along. You might recall that Matt actually help set up the web site originally. If you have suggestions for what you would like to see on the web site please let me know. Also if you have not friended South Skunk on face book you might consider doing that now. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=714718288&sk=wall Elaine Mattingly and Deana Williams do an excellent job of keeping up the Face Book page!
