Bob Dorr And The Blue Band Update

Short and sweeeet! No Blue gigs this week. We are the entertainment for day one of a national convention of Main St. USA on May 22 (sorry, private party) and then start the 30th Anniversary Summer Tour with an afternoon show at the West Des Moines BBQ Celebration on Sat. May 28 and an evening show at the Liberty Centre Blues and BBQ Celebration in North Liberty (Iowa City 'burb) on Sun. May 29. I'm assuming that you've already got your River Boat Cruise tickets for Fri. June 3. And I'm tickled to announce that we've been invited by our long-time friends Phil Maass and Diana Smith to help celebrate their 5th wedding anniversary in August. Summer really has the potential to be spectacular. BRING CAKE!...
Mostly, I wanted to let you know about the radio shows this weekend. Saturday night's Backtracks show is another live show (probably the last live show until the fall) If you have advance requests, simply reply to this email. Remember, the show deals exclusively in songs that are at least 25 years old. If you'd like to actually talk with me, the toll free number on Sat. night is 800-772-2440, ext. 5. I answer all the calls personally, so if you get through, let it ring, I'll answer asap. The show runs 7-10pm. On Thursday May 5, The Blues Foundation gave out the 2011 Blues Music Awards in Memphis. Sunday evening's Blue Avenue show will spend the entire program spotlighting the award winners and their music. It's the Best of The Best in today's blues world, the show runs 5-6:30pm. Find the frequency in your area or listen on line, anywhere on the planet, at www.iowapublicradio.org...
And speaking of Phil Maass, it sounds like the recording/mixing/editing/mastering of the New Year's Eve tapes is VERY near completion. Hopefully we'll have some of those recordings posted on the Listen To The Band page within the next week...
That's it. I swear I'm gonna take one of these coming weeks off from writing these notes. Maybe next week. See ya on The Blue Highway, rub yer washboard to the tune of Turn Me On, I'm Your Radio, continue in the ever present search for the perfect CAKE, and don't forget we love you.
