July 11th on Hammered By The Blues (every Sunday on KOWZ 1170AM at 10pm) we take you up and down the middle of this great country to share a variety of artists' interpretations inspired by that one true all American art form, the Blues. We start in the heart at St. Louis, MO, as we shake what the good Lord gave us at a LIVE show by Sonny Robertson as chronicled on his latest CD 'St. Louis, From The Ashes'. Then we ride along with California native Mitch Woods as he travels to 'Nawlins to record a loving tribute to vintage New Orleans music on his brand new one entitled 'Gumbo Blues'. With the gumbo still warmin' yer belly, we wisk you to the Twin Cities to enjoy the acoustic wit and rakish elan of Nigel Egg as he shares his vision of what makes America great off 'Big Bang Baby Boom'. Of course, no rockin' blues road trip would be complete without a stroll thru the back alleys of Texas, home of some of the most recognized American Guitar Slingers. Johnny Moeller and some really special guests cut loose with a spectacular fireworks display off his new CD 'Bloo Ga Loo!' Ah yes, this music is a universal language that inspires commonality of spirit in all who hear it. Kinda makes ya proud to be an American! In a world filled with struggle and strife; Music is an ambassador that touches every life; The blues is our tool to make misery cease; And to all God's Chill'ns, bring a little peace! Hammer-time! |
