Memphis Harmonica Player Mark Sallings Killed In Auto Accident: This terrible news just in: Arkansas State Police say harmonica player Mark Sallings, 56, died when his 1995 Buick veered onto the westbound shoulder of Highway 64. Mark was a good man, a fine harmonica player, and was very active musician in the deep south. We are so sorry to report his untimely passing.

Mark always stayed here when he came up north, and would always be taking driftwood off the beach to take home. We will always keep him in our hearts as was just posted He Is The Mighty Oak. Those of you who knew him know when and how he pennnd those most truthful lyrics, and know we have another verse that is his. His band mates over the years have always joked with us and mark about staying awake at the wheel, and sandy would always yell at him to wake up. The Music, The Road, T he People, His Home was Mark. Our Hearts Hang Heavy and we ask those of you give any kind of support for Mark and his family and music to keep playing and listen closer to the man we called our brother. I even played him on the radio in Alaska and got calls about his music.

I was deeply saddened by this one. He's one of those under the radar guys that will probably not ever get his just due as a fine musician. RIP Mark. My condolences to his family.

Mark was and always will be loved by his family very much. And man could he play music. he played Amazing Grace on his harmonica at Gran's funeral. It was truly amazing! Thank you Lord I have it taped. He is missed but we know he is with our Granny in Heaven.

Mark was a friend of mine.Certainly one of the most versitile musicians in Arkansas since Louie Jordan. A true professional and gentleman. A great embassador of the Blues has been lost. Rest in Peace my old friend.
ReplyDeleteThe music scene has lost a great blues musician. Mark was one of the local best! He played at my wedding in 1990, and I have that video to cherish. May he rest in peace.
