Earbender's Black History Month Music Celebration
Fats Waller
earbender podcasts:
Fats Waller "If You Gotta Ask"

"He was a man of excess in drinking, eating and stage theatrics."
- historian Dick Hyman

Fats Waller wrote countless songs that are considered standards of jazz and blues, such as "Honeysuckle Rose," "I Got Rhythm," "The Joint is Jumpin'," "I Ain't Got Nobody," and the signature "Ain't Misbehavin'."

A member of the Songwriter Hall of Fame, his influence is still felt many years later. In the Fats Waller podcast, we travel back to the 1930s to hear how about his "intense" life as a writer and performer, and how he developed his "stride" style.

Music heard in this podcast:
"Sugar Rose" "A Hopeless Love Affair" "Old Grandad" "Carolina Shout"

The earbender/Legacy Black History Month podcast series salutes Fats Waller and other great African-American artists all month with 28 pieces in 28 days.
