Bob Dorr And The Blue Band Update

There's only 356 more days til the Iowa State Fair!! I'd have to say that last Saturday night was one of the most fun days I've ever had at the Fair (and I've had ALOT of fun days at The Fair) I hope we get the chance to do it again (!) next year!...

There's only 12 hours til load-in at the River Music Experience Courtyard in Davenport (2nd & Main) We play 6-8pm and will be the 6 piece band with the 7 piece sound, as Sam Salomone is making the trip from Des Moines to fill in for Davis on bass and Hammond organ. Al is bringing one of his long-time friends, Rod Pierson, to play sax (ya can't tell the players without a scorecard!) I'm pretty sure this is a rain or shine thing (inside if necessary) I'm looking forward to seeing some of the guys in my Jr. High band, Tortoise & The Hair, the kings of Phoebe L. Sudlow Jr. High School's multi-purpose room...

Friday is our first time at the Hawgstock Motorcycle Rally, south of Des Moines, in Winterset. I'm told that our 6-8pm time slot is right next to the "Shower Stage". Something tells me this ain't yer regular wet t-shirt night. More info: www.hawgstock.com...

Saturday marks our return to the Sugar Grove Vineyard in Newton. The place has got "a postcard view" and lots of wine. (a great combination) We play 6-9pm. More info: www.sugargrove.com...

Next Wednesday, August 27, we play our first Car Night at Porky's (we've always played Bike Night) I'm sure the hamburgers and the Pink Ladies are every bit as special on Car Night. Drive yer Hot Rod on down there (!) (44th & Douglas in Des Moines) we play 6-9pm...

And it's time to plan that long range Christmas Shopping trip! We've just been invited to the #1 Blues Club in Minneapolis: Famous Daves Uptown for a show after the Hog Guys play the Goofers in football, Sat. Nov. 22! Road trip!!...

Thoughts and prayers go toward Davis and his family, who got a phone call late this afternoon saying that Davis' dad had a heart attack and is in the hospital. Circumstances like that make me think too much. Davis' dad is my age...

See yas on the Blue Highway (the Iowa Highway Patrol says they'll be out in force this weekend and next, so Buckle Up and don't drive drunk. Call yourself a cab...YOU'RE A CAB!!) Keep strokin' that washboard tie (wasn't that cool when Terry, his son, and his grandson were all rubbin' it at The Fair!) Don't forget, it's never too late for CAKE! And always remember we love you.
