Bob Dorr And the Blue Band Update

From Bob Dorr

I'm the host of Iowa Public Radio's Exchange program in a few hours (the show runs 10-11am, hear it via streamed audio at www.iowapublicradio.org) (Iowa City's Women In Music Festival will be the topic) so this will have to be quick...

In case you did not stop by the chat page this week, I'm sad to inform you that Ellery Temple, who played bass with The Blue Band 1990-1996, died of cancer this past week. Our group has seen this all too often recently. Dealing with mortality is quite the mind game, isn't it?...

The weather is predicted to be BEAUTIFUL on Saturday and we'll be on a beautiful bandshell stage in Riverwalk Park, on the bank of the Wapsipinicon River in Independence IA, providing music for Brew-B-Q: A BBQ Contest and Beer Tasting Festival all rolled into one. We play 5ish to 9ish. Go to www.celebrateindee.com for more information...

Next Saturday (9/27) marks our return to Kansas City (they got some crazy little women there...) at Zona Rosa shopping district north of the city. We play 6-9pm...

And the first weekend of October is HUGE! On Oct. 3 we start a new season of First-Friday Evening Club shows at The Hub, 4th and Main here in Sparkle City (5:45-9pm) and then the grand daddy of all Vineyard shows, The Tabor Family Vineyard Anniversary and Harvest celebration Sat. Oct. 4, on the vineyard grounds in Baldwin IA (about a half hour north of the Quad Cities) We play 2-5:30p. Wine goes good with cheeseCAKE!...

Under the circumstances of recent weeks, this joke might be a bit tasteless and sic, but I heard it on Conan O'Brien's show tonight from Willie Nelson: A fellow gets the news from his doctor that he's going to die soon. He asks the doctor-"Ya mean there's NOTHING I can do?!!" So the doctor advises him to take mud baths. To which he says "do you think that will help me?" To which the doctor says......no, but it will get you used to the dirt...

See you on The Blue Highway, keep rubbin' that washboard, The Reverand Gary Davis was right: Death Don't Have No Mercy In This Land, so take care of yerself, eh? And every once in awhile, treat yourself to CAKE! We love you, Bob Dorr & The Blue Band
